The Blazing Donkey has been an Inn since 1763 but in 1995 its accommodation was officially opened by BBC golf legend and friend of the Blazing Donkey the late Peter Alliss. We are a “drive and a wedge” from Sandwich Bay, home to the wonderful links of Princes and its near neighbour Royal St. Georges. The Blazing Donkey has enjoyed a close relationship with Princes for over 25 years during which time the family-owned club has seen its profile rise dramatically. Princes, 1932 Open championship venue, has been selected in recent years by the Royal & Ancient Club of St. Andrews as a qualifying course for the Open, as well as host club for the Jacques Leglise Trophy and St Andrews Trophy in 2016. In 2017 Princes also co-hosted the Amateur Championship alongside Royal St. Georges. Our golf team can arrange for our guests to play this outstanding and world-class links Monday-Sunday. It’s popularity has grown massively as the owners continue to invest in the course and facilities so advanced notice for tee times is essential. For golfers looking for a less challenging test of golf but equally enjoyable there are number of other courses available, all within easy reach. Small groups are catered for along with societies and company events of up to 50 guests. Itineraries can incorporate our fantastic meal packages, gala dinners and for our corporate groups guest speakers and a range of entertainment can also be arranged.
